DESCRIPTION

A musical performance should really be all about the music. But there is still a performance element that tends to engage the viewing and listening audience. Let's talk about some pointers on how to enhance your over all show!

PERFORMANCE TIPS

-Pay attention to the performers in some of your favorite acts. Music aside, what sets them apart from the the other acts? How do they carry themselves during their performances.

-Play in front of the mirror and see how you carry yourself while performing. Or you can shoot video and check the playback.

-Try to "feel" the emotion in the music you are playing. This can actually add to your execution and your sound.

-It's okay to "inhabit a persona" that isn't normally yours if it helps you get into the music while giving a live performance. Because when you get into the music, your audience will feed off that energy and get into it as well.

-If you can learn to play your instrument, without having to look at it, you will find greater liberation on stage and be able to communicate with your fellow musicians with less distraction.
